Senior Citizens Hospitality Center By-Laws
Article I - Name
Section I. This organization shall be known as the Senior Citizen Hospitality Center located in Decorah, Iowa.
Article II - Purpose
Section I. The purpose shall be to provide opportunity for social, recreational, educational and other activities beneficial to members and the community.
Article III - Meetings
Section 1. Each year there shall be at least ten regular meetings in Decorah, Iowa. The annual meeting for the election of officers shall be held in December of each year. This meeting is open to all members who may participate in the election of officers.
Section 2. Quorum: Majority of the board of directors, one of whom must be qualified to preside, shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
Article IV - Officers
Section 1. Officers shall be elected at the annual meeting to serve for one year or until the election and installation of their successors. The officers shall appoint three or more members to be members of the board.
Section 2. Persons 55 years of age or older may join our senior organization organization upon paying dues.
Article V - Dues and Fees
Section 1. Each Member shall pay annual dues that are payable in advance.
Section 2. Fees may be voted for special activities, including rentals or projects acceptable to the membership by a two-thirds majority vote.
Article VI - Duties of Officers
Section 1. The president shall preside at all regular or special meetings, recognize committee's for various projects and activities, and carry out the dictates of the membership. The president may call for special meetings of the membership board or executive committee when deemed necessary.
Section 2. The Vice President shall assist the president in the performance of their duties and act on their behalf during their absence.
Section 3. The Secretary shall keep the membership roll, record permanent minutes of all regular or special meetings, write all correspondence ordered by the membership.
Section 4. The treasurer shall receive, keep a record of and deposit money in the Decorah Bank and Trust checking account, Decorah, Iowa and pay all obligations of the organization approved at the regular monthly meetings. An annual audit is required.
Section 5. The board of directors shall transact such business as may be directed by the membership at each regular meeting and report their activities. They shall have general supervision of the property.
Article VII - Amendments
Section 1. These by-laws may be amended at regular monthly meeting by two-thirds majority vote of the board of directors provided that said amendment shall have been presented and proposed at a previous regular meeting.
Article VIII - Business Year
Section 1. The fiscal business year of this corporation shall begin on the first day of January and end on the last day of December following in each year.
Article IX - Suggested Order of Business
Section 1. All questions not herein provided for shall by decided upon the principals laid down in Roberts' Rules of Order

Article X - Non-Discriminatory Policy
Section 1. Senior Citizens Hospitality Center in Decorah hereby adopts a non-discriminatory policy and shall not discriminate against any senior citizen on the basis of race, color, religion/creed, gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestory), disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status.
